James Rivière

James Rivière is considered to be one of the foremost jewellery designers of the 20th century. He is a versatile artist and is also a designer, sculptor.
The jewels created by James Riviere are present in the most important museums and private collections in the world, including the “Monolite” bracelet which is on display at the Louvre (Musee des Arts Decoratifs du Louvre, Paris) and the jewel Razionale which he recently created for Pope Benedetto XVI.

Extraterrestrial fragments of meteorite are used in some of James Riviere’s unique pieces, including for the “razionale” created for Pope Benedict XVI.

The unique pieces of the artist are born at his atelier between Via Montenapoleone and Via Bigli in the heart of Milan for a select group of private collectors.

He combines all sorts of special materials, among others, rainbow titanium and gold to create jewels full of iridescent colours.

As beeing a very reserved person, James Rivière almost never take part to public events. At a very young age, Jame Riviere began his journey as a designer, participating in the Triennale di Milano and where he won competitions in jewellery in 1972 and 1973.

Teaching and social care

At age of 25 was invited to keep a seminar on the subject “plastic forms with metals” at the sculpture department of Danzig’s university. In 1977 he takes part at the establishment of “Centro Design Orafo” in Milan. In 1978 he esablish the very first jewellery design seminar at the “Istituto superiore di Design”. He partecipates in the establishment of the jewellery department at “Istituto Europeo di Design” in Milan. He thought there for many years. Dued to his reserved personality he rather take place to seminares or conferences.
James Rivière, with his philanthropic appela, has partecipated with his artistic expression and with donations, to many social projects. Amongs many we can remember Unicef, Cow Parade, Sotheby’s, Palazzo Stelline, Champion for Children, C.I.A.I ecc..
